Acton, MA – The United States Beer Tasting ChampionshipTM (USBTC) recently completed its 25th annual Winter Competition.
A total of 376 beers from 123 breweries were examined across 17 different beer categories. Within each category, the USBTC determined both a Grand Champion and the best entry from each of 7 U.S. regions: 1) Northeast, 2) Mid-Atlantic, 3) Southeast, 4) Midwest, 5) Rockies/Southwest, 6) California, and 7) Northwest/Pacific.
The USBTC takes a unique approach in that its competition is held in multiple stages. Sequential field trials are conducted wherein judges evaluate beers and select the best to advance to subsequent rounds. This allows beers to be judged in relatively small flights while ensuring that the best beers are still determined through head-to-head competition. All beers were tasted in blinded fashion and judged on a hedonic scale.
Motorworks Brewing was awarded “Best of the Southeast” distinctions for Frostfang in the Imperial Stout category, and for Thresher in the Barleywine category, which was also recently awarded a Bronze Medal at the 2019 Best Florida Beer Competition in Tampa. Additionally, our Rum Barrel-Aged Datil Pepper Chocolate Imperial Porter and V Twin Vienna Lager received Honorable Mention nods in their respective categories.
22oz. bottles of Thresher and Rum BA Datil plus 12oz. 6PKS of V Twin are currently available in our Bradenton taproom located at 1014 9th Street W.
