Motorworks Brewing was awarded the distinction of #9 brewery nationwide, winning two gold medals and a silver, at the 2018 U.S. Open Beer Championship in Oxford, OH.
Breweries from South Carolina to South Korea sent in more than 6,300 beers representing more than 110 different styles for the 2018 U.S. Open Beer Championship. The competition is the only one to include beers from professional breweries and award-winning home-brewers, with judges from England, Canada and the United States. Judging in the U.S. Open Beer Championships is blind; the judges know only the categories (117 categories were judged at this year’s U.S. Open), but they do not know which beers they are tasting.
Motorworks Brewing’s Thresher won Gold in the English Barley Wine category, while its Mango Habanero Snowflake IPA and popular Pulp Friction Grapefruit IPA won Gold and Silver, respectively, in the Out of Bounds IPA category. This marks the fifth consecutive year Motorworks Brewing has medaled at the U.S. Open (every year since opening), and all three beers are currently available on draft at Motorworks’ 1014 9th St. W taproom.
Thresher is also available to-go in 22oz. bottles, while Pulp Friction is available year-round in 6-packs in their Bradenton taproom and local retailers throughout Tampa Bay and beyond.
